SPEC: Society for the Promotion of Extraordinary Cocktails. 

Ascend to the cocktail class (no, it's not an actual class), enjoy the golden age of American elegance as expressed through the art of extraordinary cocktails!

 

 

 

 

 

Rowhouse Film Festival.

An ongoing Sunday evening event where we show movies at our house, serve flavored popcorn, and discuss the films afterwards.  This the current (and fourth) season is entitled Film Noir: Classics & Reduxions, Third season coming soon.

 

Rowhouse Poker & card game night.

A this semi-regular poker / card game night where we play, for the most part, Texas Hold 'Em on our a hand-crafted, real live card table, with lovely chips feel like they're from a casino, with games that are fun & friendly with rules that are easy to learn, and where the betting is practically nothing.

 

Grrl's Tea Party.  The monthly gossip sessions series for girls only is hosted by Sarah (Ru is not allowed).  The ladies gather in the lounge with sweets, savories, tea, and the occasional craft project.  Tea usually held on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening.

Sunday, March 7th:  6th Annual Oscar Party Snacks, drinks, activities, trivia games, prizes ... and of course a lot of heckling the celebrities with catty fashion commentary.

 

Thursday, Dec 31st:  The Rowhouse "Rockin' New Year's Eve"!  Rowhouse Productions will be having a somewhat intimate little open-house on New Year's Eve from 9:00pm onwards well into the night. There will be some light fare, champagne, sparklers, a few New Year's-related activities & games, and plenty of good cheer.

We hope you can join us for the whole evening and when the clock strikes midnight, but of course feel free to just make us a stop along your way.As always, your contributions to the booze would be very much appreciated, feel free to bring a friend or two with you, and kindly RSVP.

 

 

Sunday, Dec 20th.:  Holiday Party .   Due to the nasty weather we are rescheduling Rowhouse Productions' second annual holiday party & performance to Sunday, Dec 20th.  It will be a night of music, spiced beverages, holiday cookies, & conversation!

Arco Iris (the cello duo comprised of Sarah & Alex Stefans) we will be playing some traditional favorites and welcomes you to sing along or just listen if you'd prefer; the delightful a capella group In the Mix will start off the evening.  After the music, we can all just celebrate the season with drinks and merriment well into the night.

 

Saturday, December 12: In honor of our friend Kate's increasing age, please join in reverting back to more juvenile times at a Sweet 16 birthday party on Saturday, December 12, at 8:00pm.

Come prepared to eat pizza bagels, hide Playboys under couch cushions, and conjure spirits with a Ouija board ... or at least watch others do so.  (High school / Jr high school attire not required).

 

Party Like It's 1799!  In honor of our friend Christy who just passed her oral comprehensive exams in American History, it's time to party like it's 1799.  Join us, Christy, and her friends on Saturday, December 5 at 8:00pm when Rowhouse Productions hosts a celebration in her honor.

It will be an evening of rigorously trivial conversation, general frivolity, and a few toasts to mark the end of a crazy exam process.  We’ll have light snacks and drinks, including an ostensibly post-Revolutionary concoction!

 

 

November 18: We are pleased to announce that Rowhouse Productions, in collaboration with Theatre Exile, is offering a special deal to for Rowhouse members to the upcoming event "CARNAL CRAVINGS NIGHT" on November 18th.

Come out to the Adrienne Theatre for a night of decadence to soothe the savage soul: a pre-show party followed by HUNTER GATHERERS, a new hit play about four young urban professionals get in touch with their primal instincts over dinner.  Tickets for Rowhouse invites are $10 off general admission.  

 

 

November 3-28:  Rowhouse Productions is partnering with First Person Arts and offering a discount to all of our members for the upcoming First Person Festival of Memoir and Documentary Art.

The festival runs from November 3rd-8th at the Painted Bride, and you will be entitled to $5 off the ticket price for all events.  Contact us for the promotion code to use when purchasing tickets online.

March 20, 9pm Poker Night: Rowhouse Goes Gambling.  An intimate little open-house on in honor of Rufus' recent creation -- a honest-to-goodness real card table (btw, he's a carpenter/furniture-maker now ... who knew?)  Please join us for some lively rounds of poker – specifically Texas Hold 'Em.

2008

 

New Year's Eve by Rowhouse Productions was an intimate little open-house on December 31st from 9:00 pm and onwards.  We served some light fare, champagne, lit sparklers, a had few New Year's-related activities, and of course plenty of good cheer.

Saturday, December 20th, 7:30pm:  "Deck the Halls" with Arco Iris cello duet.  Come warm up with some hot cider & carols.  We (Sarah & Alex Stefans) will play some traditional favorites and you are welcome to sing along or just get cozy and listen.  It will be the perfect way to start your evening of holiday parties!

Thurs, November 27, A Very Rowhouse Thanksgiving:  Not your typical family-style event! We won't be watching football, and dinner will be held at a reasonable time.  A gourmet dinner, lively conversation, some board games, and plenty of wine. Friday, Sept 5, 8:00pm: Jarrett's birthday party.  A birthday party for a dear friend hosted by Rowhouse.

Sat Jul 5, 6:00pm: Fourth Fifth of July BBQ.  Come, eat some food,  drink some booze.  We all have an extra day off, so let's enjoy an evening together.  Rufus will be making bbq'd ribs, and Sarah might redux the yummy hotdogs from her graduation party last summer.

Sunday, June 1, 7:30pm:  Rowhouse Film Festival's 3rd season. This season, entitled "On The Road," begins with the quintessential road movie, Easy Rider, as we'll explored the genre of the road movie as a manifesto for freedom & wandering, and as the anti-establishment American dream.

Thurs, Apr 24, 6pmCultural Film Night (for Einstein medical residents only).

Einstein's Dept of Psychiatry and Rowhouse Productions present the next cultural film series.  This month it will be held at the home of Dr. Sarah Noble and the movie will be Tarnation by Jonathan Caouette.  The discussion following the presentation of the movie will be lead by Dr. Kevin Hails.

Saturday, October 20, 2007, midnight:  Afterhours party / FDR performance at Salt & Pepper We go "on-the-road" to Salt & Pepper and present a late night, offsite, private, and very special event.  Meet other great Philly folks, mingle after hours in a cool space, and hear some fantastic music care of FDR.

Saturday, August 11, 2007, 8:00pm:  5 Year Anniversary Party.   The actual anniversary is August 10th, but the celebration is the 11th.  Pics from the evening are here.

Wed, July 4th, 4:00pm:  Fourth of July Garden PartyCelebrate Independence Day with us in our garden.  We'll be serving a delicious summer drink – a green tea-infused vodka cocktail – as well as some yummy grilled snacks.

 

Sunday, May 27th, 2007:  Dr. Sarah's Phallic Freudian Frankfurter Graduation & Garden PartySarah gets her diploma (and her 'script pad) on June 3, but we are going to get our groove on and celebrate her career in psychiatry with a party in the garden two weeks prior.  What better way than to link psychiatry, Freud's obsession with the phallus, and grilling frankfurters on Memorial Day weekend?  We will be serving sausages, hot dogs, and tofu pups, carefully designed by your hosts. Saturday, May 19th:  Cocktails in the Garden It is officially garden season and it’s starting to look nice out there.  Stop by our informal gathering and have a summer cocktail with us.

Monday, Oct 2nd:  The Poetry Bus visits Philly Poets Sierra Nelson & Matthew Zapruder (among others) read at Fuel Gallery as part of their nation wide tour.

 

Saturday, Aug 26th:  Farewell Party for Dave & Amy.  The lovely couple leaves for the deep south, but we send them off right.

 

Saturday, Aug 19th:  FDR showThe one-man-band, FDR, performs at Salt & Pepper after hours.

 

Saturday, Aug 5th:  Mid Summer Night’s Garden Party.  The second in a three-part potluck dinner series.

 

Friday, June 30th:  Non-Fourth-of-July garden party.  We open up the garden for cocktails & snacks.

 

Sunday, May 28th:  Memorial Day Weekend Garden Party.  Barbecue & summer cocktails to kick off the beginning of summer.

 

Saturday, May 12th:  Aztec Two-Step showRufus' dad perform in his folk-rock band at the Tin Angel in philly.

 

Saturday, May 6th:  Garden Party.  Cocktails.

 

Sunday, Mar 5th:  4th Annual Oscar Party.  Co-hosted w/ our friend Melissa.  Ru & Sarah's 4th annual Oscar night includes trivia games, an Oscar prediction contest, and prizes.

 

Saturday Mar 4th:  Richard Julian's showRufus' client, Richard Julian, performing at World Cafe Live! An amazing singer-songwriter with a kick ass band.

 

Saturday, Feb 25th:  Anais Mitchell plays World Cafe Live + after party at our house.  Rufus' client, Anais Mitchell, plays a free show at World Cafe Live.  Party at Ru & Sarah's house afterwards.
