GRRL'S TEA

A somewhat monthly gossip sessions series for girls only.  The event is hosted by Sarah (Ru is not allowed).  The ladies gather in the lounge with sweets, savories, tea, and the occasional craft project.  Knitting is encouraged -- there are many teachers in the group.

Stay-tuned for the next date!  In the meantime, check out this interesting article from UCLA about friendship among women.

Lina Beard, author of the Girl's Handy Book (published in 1887), once wrote:

"Off they go with bright, laughing eyes and glowing cheeks, each one carrying  a light little basket or fancy bag slung carelessly on her arm.  The girls are full of life and spirits as they walk  briskly along toward the woods in the delightful fall weather, talking and laughing in a thoughtless fashion."

NEXT TEA....

2010

Grrls Tea is back, this time by starting with a little outing.  The College of Physicians is hosting a talk by photographer Taryn Simon who has shown at the Gagosian, The Whitney, The Met and The Centre Pompidou in Paris.  The talk is this Wednesday (Mar 3rd) from 6:30- 7:30pm, and then we follow it up with a cocktail somewhere in center city.

PREVIOUS TEAS....

2009

Saturday, June 13 at around 10:30am.  Let's go strawberry picking! After a long hiatus, we'll be coming together to enjoy a springtime outing for another Grrl's Tea.  There is a great little farm about 40 mins from Philly called Styer Orchards.  We can meet at Rowhouse headquarters and then carpool up there.  We'll have gossip time, yummy, sweet, and strawberries.  It's even by a mall, so we can go shopping if we feel like truly grrling out!

2008

Saturday, August 9th at 11am.  Picking fruit at a u-pick farm outside of Philly.  (Despite the picture, preaches & tomatoes are in season.

Tuesday, March 18th at 8pm.  The Tea that anticipates spring.

Thursday, January 17th at 7:00pm.  The first tea of the new year.

2007

Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00pm.  Bring some Autumn leaves and we'll try to make something crafty out of them.

Tuesday, August 28, at 7:00pm.  The tea goes outdoors!  Meet in Rittenhouse Square for an outdoor tea in the summer weather.

Thursday, July 26th, at 8:00pm:  Tea is outside this time at one of Sarah's my favorite places in Philly -- the new Schuylkill Banks Park.  They screen Alfred Hitchcock films outdoors every other Thursday.  At the risk infringing on our Film Fest event a little, the ladies will see North by Northwest.

Wednesday, June 6th, at 7:00pm.  This "Mad Hatter June Tea" has craft projects all the ladies partake in.

Tuesday, May 8th, at 7:00pm:  This party focuses around a discussion of the Enneagram, a personality test sort of like the Meyers-Briggs test, but much cooler.  (Incidentally, Sarah is a 3 / 2.)

Tuesday, Apr 10th, at 7:00pm:  Crafts & Hat Night -- The ladies make tea-cup pin cushions, boxes made from greeting cards, and everyone wears old-fashioned hats!

Tuesday, Mar 6th, at 7:00pm.

Wednesday, Jan 17th, at 7:00pm:  Crafts Night!
